CEO Message

Chief Executive Officer Shuzo Fujii

We continue drawing people in with our vision, and aspiring to be the “ONLY ONE” sound company.

Despite it being our 40th anniversary, we have never forgotten our initial enthusiasm.

MSI JAPAN was established in 1979 and we welcomed the 35th anniversary of our company in 2014. I got started in the sound business because of my interest in Audio. In 1974, I was asked by a friend to be in charge of audio for a concert. This was my catalyst for starting my concert audio business, MOB, at 18 years old.
My first, and also last, MOB project was a sponsored concert event featuring popular Kansai band “Masaki Ueda and SOUTH TO SOUTH”. This was my first experience in mixing such professional artists, and it was very challenging. However, after that event, I became their exclusive mixing engineer. We drove all over Japan in a truck filled with our equipment. Time flies... 42 years have passed since then and I have been able to witness the evolution of sound.

My attitude toward my work in the sound business has been that it is my life’s purpose. No matter how many years go by, I will never forget my initial drive. I believe that we are constantly studying and learning in our lifetime. I trust that from the skills I have acquired over the years, I can overcome any difficulties that arise at any given moment. I feel very blessed to have a large support team of intelligent people who were willing to help me along the way.

I pride MSI in having an eye for spotting what the future of the sound industry needs. In 1998, we were the first sound company to provide the Line Source Array speaker, “V-DOSC”, which is known nowadays as a pioneer of the concert audio system. In 2006, we were the first company to introduce Japan to J Series from Germany’s d&b company. In 2009, we were the first company to introduce K1 from L-Acoustics to Japan.

For entertainment’s audio industry, the change from analog audio systems to digital audio systems was rather late.

However, the need for digital systems grew rapidly and fast technological improvements were made. It has now become a necessity in the sound industry. We are proud to be a pioneer in introducing digital consoles to music festivals in Japan. Since our introduction of digital consoles to a large-scale music festival, it has become a norm for today’s festival use.
In 2012, we brought the Multi-Cellular Loud Speaker Array “MLA” to a Tokyo Dome live show. We received great feedback from our customers. By using this system, the delay tower on the Tokyo Dome does not have to be used, and sound can be heard clearly even when audiences are seated at the top of the stadium.

Since the establishment of MSI, our selling point has always been the sound created by our operator. Therefore, our first priority is keeping a roster full of talented and educated staff. I strongly believe that this policy has contributed to our success in the audio industry. By making our employees our first priority, we have been able to discover new talent, provide excellent training, and introduce the latest technology to Japan... it all goes hand in hand. We hope to have Asia as a leading entity in providing talented staff and technology to the entertainment industry on a global scale.
